~iPhone Case~

This was such a fun quick sewing project. I was asked if I could make this, and of course I said yes. I love doing custom orders! No step by on this project, but if you want to make your own just google iphone case tutorial or something of the sort. If you want to buy one, hit me up or head over to etsy.com and search iphone case:) I think I need to make one for my android!

~31 weeks~

Single digit weeks to go, folks! I am doing pretty good, my ulcerative colitis is flaring very bad right now. Baby is doing great, though. She is measuring a week ahead, getting the hiccups like crazy, and moving all around (not nearly as much as her brothers did, but still a lot). I passed my gestational diabetes test...without having to take the 3 hour test, woohoo!!! And have now graduated to appointments every 2 weeks, which means these finally weeks are going to FLY by.

I have been doing more nesting (trying to get ride of lots of the boys' toys, their big things mostly, but Ted wouldn't let me), rearranging furniture in the basement, organizing my sewing/crafting area, as well as getting baby girl's "nursery" more ready. I say "nursery" because it really is just the corner of our bedroom. We have a great house and an even better location where our house is, BUT we only have two bedrooms....that's right, soon to be family of six is nice and cozy bunking up in two bedrooms. Ideally, if the entire upstairs was just one huge room it would be perfect. We 100% have a family bed, meaning most mornings I wake up there are at least 4 of us if not all 5 in my bed. Anyway, back to the "nursery". The crib has been up since Father's Day, for some reason Ted just decided to put it up (pretty sure he was very excited about having a daughter!). I added some vinyl wall art recently, put together the changing table and hung a shelf yesterday, and am in the process of organizing her clothes because as of right now I have everything out from newborn to 2t. My grandma gave me some really GREAT stuff to add to the "getting ready for a girl" fun. She gave me crib bedding, a Juicy diaper bag, some cute storage totes, the shelf that I hung, a BEAUTIFUL moses basket, oh so soft and pretty blanket, hooded towels, and of course some adorable outfits....THANKS Grandma! It is starting to look like a baby is about to be here!!!

~Finally~

A new blog entry! I have so much I want to blog about and hope I can get some entries in in the next few days ranging from our new deck, first day of school, sharing some sewing projects I have finished, a fun trip I just got back from, and a 31 week belly picture (which I am today!). This blog entry is also about finishing something...my dinning room chairs. Anyone remember that I had mentioned I just got the fabric to recover my chairs?? Yeah, it was a while back and I actually did four of the chairs right away and realized that because it was a directional pattern I was going to need twice as much fabric. I ordered more fabric and it came and has been just sitting for a while in my pile of "PLEASE FINISH ME" things. Today was the day that I just finished them. It's not hard, doesn't take a lot of time, and is instantly rewarding. Not sure why I put it off, but at least now I can say it is done! Oh, and I remembered to take some pictures along the way. Really I could just explain it but I am a visual person and would rather look at a picture:).

All I did was take the cushions off of the chairs (4 screws, would have been much easier if I could have found the right bit for the power drill but doing it by hand worked). Set the cushion on the fabric and eyeballed it, then cut the fabric, stapled it on (with a heavy duty stapler), put the cushion back on and screwed it back into place. Done!

Before and After:
Keep in mind this is one of the "clean" cushions.
This was some great indoor/outdoor fabric that is also stain resistant and water repellant...um, translation: "perfect fabric for a chair in a family of 3 young, MESS prone boys!"

And some step by step (kind of):
Cut fabric, again I just eyeballed it.
Staple one side, then staple the opposite side pulling tight as you staple.
Do the same for the other two sides, leaving all 4 corners for the end.
Staple all four corners nice and tight.
Trim the extra fabric.
There you have it, screw it back on to the chair and finished!

~27 Weeks~

Almost, tomorrow but what is one day when it comes to a belly shot?? Everything is still going great. I was itchy from about 10 weeks until about 22 weeks, and it was so much like I was at the end of my pregnancy with Ethan. With him I was diagnosed with Cholestasis of pregnancy. Basically bile from your liver backs up in the gallbladder and then just kind of overflows into your body, making you itch. Especially your feet, hands, legs, etc. I remember calling in with Ethan and the nurse had no idea (I had already googled and found cholestasis, which is why I called) and asked if I had athletes foot. Luckily my doctor was more proactive and had me go into labor and delivery for blood work and to check out the baby. Blood work showed elevated levels with my liver and really it did not effect my health (besides the crazy itching that can really drive you insane), but can be scary for the health of the baby and studies have shown an increase of meconium as well as stillbirth. Because of this, I was induced since I was close to 38 weeks (they recommend inducing at 37 weeks if you make it that far with Cholestasis of pregnancy). Anyways, I was concerned I was maybe getting this again but usually it doesn't develop until the third trimester. Thankfully my blood work a while back came back normal, and eventually the itching got less and less to not at all right now!

Considering I had Landon 5 weeks early, Trevor 1 week early, and Ethan 3 weeks early I could very well be holding this little girl in 8 weeks. But then considering this pregnancy has been different in every way, I am thinking it could be different again and I could go over my due date?!?!? Making it more like 14 weeks. As excited as I am to hold and snuggle her, I think the 14 weeks sounds much better. I am sooooo not ready yet. So much to do still! I know you have all been in suspense waiting for the belly picture, right? No more babbling, here they are:)
And just to compare to Ethan:

Oh my gosh, and I just realized I am entering the third trimester!

~For the Boys~

Besides the pants for Ethan a few weeks back, I haven't made too much for the boys. I decided to make a few things for each of them as my next projects, and the first thing that I made was a crocheted hat. I searched ravelry for things to knit or crochet for boys, and this hat looked like the easiest/quickest. It was really quick (only took me 1 hour), and used a small amount of yarn. The pattern called for a size L hook, but I crochet and knit larger so I went down to a K and it came out great. If you know how to crochet and want to make one, the pattern is called Daddy & Me Field Caps on Ravelry.

Next I might try my hand at a hoody? Speaking of Ravelry, if you knit and/or crochet and have not been on this site you NEED to head over there (and be prepared to search for hours through all of the patterns they have, lots of them free!). It is a huge wealth of information and patterns, I love love love this site!

This hat fit Ethan perfect and just fits Trevor, and it does fit Landon but I think I would add one more row for him and Trevor when I make it again. Here are a few pictures, always goof balls:)
We decorated some masks this morning, but Landon wanted to leave one of his just like it came. And, yes, he has worn it ALL morning!

~Onesie Dress~

I had two white 3-6 month onesies sitting in one of my craft piles for a while now. That and I had been wanting to make a few dresses for this baby. I see all of these super cute dresses and instead of buying them think, "I can make that" but so far have not made any. Well, instead of buying ALL of them, I have bought a few dress for when she is bigger. I don't have any experience with this but am thinking dresses can be a real pain in the butt for a crawler, so I bought most in sizes that should work once she is walking good (like 18 month). Anyways, back to the onesie. So, I did a search on Prudent Baby and came across their 10 Minute Onesie Dress tutorial. Perfect! It probably took me longer than 10 minutes, but regardless it was still really quick and super super easy. Really you could do this same concept on a t-shirt or tank top, too. Here are the two that I made. Now I just need some baby legs to go with them. Oh, and I saved a piece of fabric to make coordinating bows to match the dresses.

~24 Weeks~

Grow baby, grow! I feel like that is all that my body is doing right now, growing at a very rapid rate! I do have to say that I love this part of pregnancy, and love love the belly. It is finally nice and round, and so very pregnant looking:) Plus, the nesting is already kicking in and I have been trying to whip this house into shape and get organized, as well as finish projects that I have put off for a long time (like making our bench seat and recovering our dinning room chairs, just got the fabric for both today!).

~Hair Bows~

Let's just say I am loving making so much *crap* for my little girl on the way. Yesterday the boys and I went through my scrap fabric and picked out pieces to make some hair bows. I used my pinking shears on these so that they wouldn't fray so much. So easy and quick to make. I plan on gluing them onto alligator clips so that the can be worn with just the clip, or clipped onto a head band (most likely this will be the case right away as I don't expect much hair for this little one!)or a pony tail holder.
Do you want to make your own? Head over to Lil Blue Boo for a tutorial, did I mention how quick and easy these are to make?!

~Pants~

These are the cutest little pants! Plus, so easy to make. This is the first time I have made them (they are out of my awesome Anna Maria Horner book that I have mentioned), and they took me two hours from start to finish. I love that they use three different fabrics and that they are reversible. I made these up for a baby boy on the way as a gift and they are about a size 3month. I have picked out some great Riley Blake fabric to make up a pair for baby girl, so excited to make them for her!

~22 Weeks~

I can't believe I am this far, this pregnancy is FLYING by! Landon told me yesterday that I use to have a little butt and now I have a big butt, such sweet innocent honesty from a five year old! My body is really taking a toll this time around, I was in great shape when I got pregnant and now I feel like I have lost 3/4 of my muscle tone and definition. It might not have happened if I would have been able to keep up with working out but I was so sick at the beginning and tried to work out but it actually would make me more sick the days I worked out so it pretty much got put on hold, then I started feeling better and it has been really hard to get back into it. I am trying to work out three times a week but really am lucky if I do once or twice a week. In the end, this baby is worth the big butt I am getting and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Just so you can see that you can still do kettlebells while you are pregnant, here is me the other day. I did a 25 minute workout of 5xleft swing, 5xright swing, 5xleft clean, 5xright clean, 5xleft press, 5xrightpress, 10 air squats, 5xleft lunge, 5xright lunge, 5xleft snatch, and 5xright snatch. I just repeated this circuit as many times as I could in 25 minutes (I did 5).

~More Sewing~

Just wanted to show off two things I recently sewed. First is a sleep sac that I made using the pattern out of my handmade beginnings book by Anna Maria Horner (great book!). The back of this sleep sac was my inspiration fabric, I just love this fabric and had it already in my stash. Last week I pulled this fabric out and was trying to decide what it should become, flipped through my handmade beginnings book and got my heart set on the quilted sleep sac. Next I dug out scraps of fabric that would coordinate with my main fabric to make the quilted front piece. I decided to do 3"x3" squares for the patchwork, but you could do any kind of patchwork that you wanted or even use an old quilt top. The inside is a pale purple flannel fabric that I also already had in my stash....I did not have to buy anything (at least nothing that I didn't already have!) to make this project. The sewing went really fast on this, and then the binding around the edge took a little time, but after that it was just the velcro and sewing up the bottom and it was done in a couple of days. I will be making a few more of these, sleep sacs are just the best at night!
Remember the pants that I had made Trevor a while back?
They no longer fit Trevor, and Ethan had been insisting on wearing them so I sewed up the length and then added a new waist band to them to help them stay up on his little waist. He loves them! So much so, that I quick made up another pair for him this morning and I love that making these pants is less than an hour from start to finish. He has been wearing them since I finished them this morning.

I will try to take pictures and do a tutorial for these super easy flannel pants, until then you can follow this one I did for up-cycled pants (just use fabric, flannel in this case, instead of pants)
